Colon cancer, also known as colorectal cancer in the case of both areas, is caused by abnormal growth of cells in the colon and rectal area. In general, the onset of this pathology involves the growth of polyps, which over time may or may not turn into cancer.<\/p>

CRC has become a common disease, especially in Western countries. In our country, its frequency is ranked third, after breast cancer and prostate cancer, according to the Cancer Mortality and Prevalence Index in Chile by Globocan (2020).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Among the most common risk factors for contracting colon cancer are family history, the age of the patient and having suffered from some pathologies such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease or inflammatory diseases of the digestive system. On the other hand, lifestyle is essential when it comes to understanding the appearance of these pathologies; the risks associated with diet, cigarette, alcohol or drug consumption increase the probability of suffering from this type of cancer.<\/p>

Although colon cancer is a reality for many people, if it is detected in time, it can be treated with favorable results for patients, even saving their lives.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Our product portfolio includes the SENTiFOB equipment from the company Sentinel Diagnostic (Italy), a device that measures the amount of blood in stool, warning of possible colorectal cancer,\u201d says Carlos Jim\u00e9nez, General Manager of Microbac.<\/p>

Regarding the effectiveness of this equipment, Alan Fritz, Applications and Products Specialist and head of SAC, comments: \u201cThere is a difference between a lateral flow test (rapid test) and an instrument, such as the SENTiFOB equipment.\u201d With the instrument, it is possible to obtain linearity, that is, a much higher concentration than what is sought. Flow tests such as those for urine, hormones, etc., have more limited ranges, while with an instrument, higher numbers can be obtained.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
